MYOPIA CONTROL

What is Myopia?

Myopia (short-sightedness) is when a child can see things close-up but needs glasses to see better in the distance. By 2050 it is estimated that half the world’s population will be short-sighted, with up to one-fifth at significantly increased risk of blindness if the current trends continue. Myopia progression, if not controlled, can affect a child’s education as they will struggle to read the classroom whiteboard.

How to control myopia progression

Here at OVC, we are proud to offer not one but two methods of controlling myopia progression. Using either of these methods means that your child is less likely to develop myopia-related eye conditions and reduce their dependency on spectacles.

MiSight contact lenses from Coopervision consist of a specialist optical design which may help slow down the speed at which myopia progresses. The research carried out during the trial stage of these contact lenses found that 41% of children who wore MiSight contact lenses had NO significant change in prescription during the three-year period compared to only 4% of those who did not.
