Eye Examinations

Why you should have your eyes examined

You should have your eyes examined regularly, to check their overall health and test your vision. A thorough eye examination can also detect underlying medical conditions that could otherwise go unnoticed.

We’ll advise you how often you should have your eyes examined. For most people, this will be once every two years.

However, if, for example, you have a particular medical condition, you’re older or someone in your immediate family has glaucoma, you may need to have your eyes examined more often.

You should also have your eyes examined if for any reason you’re worried about their health or you notice any changes in your vision.

Why we offer one hour appointments

We will never rush you, either during your eye examination or while you’re choosing your glasses. We do understand that some people find having an eye examination uncomfortable or stressful.

So, if you’d rather have a little longer, we’ll allow an hour for your appointment.

This gives us enough time to examine your eyes thoroughly and make sure you feel comfortable and confident throughout.

Examinations we provide

We provide private and NHS examinations for adults and children. We also provide emergency appointments and more specialist examinations. Find a full list of our services and fees here.

Enhanced Eye Examination: £49

Our enhanced eye examination covers all your standard eye health needs. It includes a high-quality health check, vision test and prescription service, as well as a high-resolution image of your eye using our state-of-the-art fundus camera.

Advanced Eye Examination: £79

Our advanced eye examination is an in-depth check of your vision and eye health. We use our state-of-the-art Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner to take a comprehensive view of your retinal tissue layers. This helps us identify early-onset ocular disease and accurately monitor your eye health over the long term.

Optimum Eye Examination: £99

Our specialists recommend this tailor-made, optimum test for all our patients. It includes an Optomap retinal scan, which gives us a wider-angled photograph of the back of your eye. This, combined with the technology of our advanced and extended tests, provides us with the most detailed picture of your eye health and vision available today.

Your eye care doesn’t end with your examination. The correct fit of your glasses is essential, not only for your comfort but to make sure your vision is as good as it can be. Therefore, when you buy your glasses from us*, you’re welcome to call in at any time to check their fit. We’ll be happy to make any adjustments they need.

And of course, if you notice any changes in your vision or you’re concerned about your sight or the health of your eyes for any reason, please pop in or give us a call. We’ll be happy to help you.

*The College of Optometrists and the Association of Dispensing Opticians advise you buy your glasses where you have your eyes examined. This is because good vision depends both on how your glasses are prescribed and how they are dispensed. Therefore, if you don’t buy your glasses from us, we’re sorry but we’re unable to offer you unlimited adjustments, even if we carried out your eye test.
